The production of stone fruits encompasses a wide range of varieties (see calendar). The main cultivation area is the Elvas region (southeast Portugal), which gives the fruit a unique and intense flavor.

The picking season

Our stone fruits are harvested in late May to September , when they reach optimal ripeness. The company produces plums, nectarines, peaches, flat peaches, and apricots—all grown with care and tradition.

Storage

After harvest, the fruit is carefully handled and kept at controlled temperatures between 0°C and 2°C to preserve quality and firmness.

The journey

With an arrival firmness of 2–5 kg/0.5cm², O Melro’s stone fruit offer the perfect balance of texture and sweetness. With sugar levels above 11.5° Brix, they stay fresh for up to 10 days at 20°C.

Our stone fruit are firm and sweet, with excellent shelf life and handling resistance. Thanks to their durability, they stay fresh and appealing on display, helping to reduce waste and ensure consumer satisfaction.
