Our production spans extensive hectares, ensuring quality and consistency from planting to harvest.

In order to maintain the highest quality standard and fruit uniformity. O Melro flexibility and professional team allows  us to respond and adapt to all clients needs.

One of our guidelines is food safety. To achieve this fundamental goal, all our growers are technically advised, certified by GFSI systems and follow a strict pesticide  reduction policy.

Our prodution areas

The production areas — both our own and those of our audited partners — are an important part of O Melro’s operation, which dedicates most of its activity to the production of Rocha pear, stone fruit, Gala apple, and table grapes. Our orchards cover 600 hectares and are located in the Oeste, Alentejo, and Santarém regions. O Melro is the largest producer of stone fruit in Portugal.

In Portugal, our products are supplied to the three largest supermarket chains. They can also be found in major supermarket chains in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, and Spain. Our fruits also reach distant markets such as Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, India, and several African countries. The production areas — both our own and those of our audited partners — are an important part of O Melro’s operation, which dedicates most of its activity to the production of Rocha pear, stone fruit, Gala apple, and table grapes. Environmental focus

For O Melro, environmental responsibility is an act of conscience and respect for the  planet, but also, as farmers, a way to guarantee the future of our children and of all those  who work with us in the pack houses and orchards.

Therefore we consider it as part of our strategy
and implemented  it using the following measures:
  • Sustainable water management: Optimization and efficient use of water in production.

  • Carbon footprint reduction: production, packaging, and logistics.

  • Creation of hedgerows and ecological corridors to promote biodiversity and the natural protection of crops.
  • Optimized use of plant protection products, prioritizing low-impact alternatives.

  • Investment in renewable energy with the installation of solar panels on warehouses and irrigation systems.
